The techniques of Manual Lymph Drainage are  targeting  the lymphatic system to  assist the movement of lymph through the body.  This style of massage uses no oil because the very light circular and pumping motion techniques that stretch the skin encourage  better flow of lymph to decrease swelling in the tissue.  The lymphatic system has a map of the body to assist in the direction for better drainage of the lymph fluid. The lymphatic system does not have a pump like the cardiovascular system, so movement is important to encourage a healthy rate of lymph flow.  Manual Lymph Drainage can be a massage on its own or you can add MLD to another massage.  Manual Lymph Drainage is great to encourage overall health and well being and also can be amazing to reduce swelling within the body due to poor lymphatic fluid flow.  MLD can activate the parasympathetic nervous system bringing extreme relaxation to the client  and also relieve pain and reduce swelling if present.
